Sunday, February 24th - THAT'S A WRAP!

Well, it was certainly an unpredictable year for the Oscars, but congratulations goes to Michael Fang for taking home the win for this 22nd Annual Academy Awards Pool!

Coming in 2nd place was Monty Hamilton, and Emily Shrift rounded out those taking home a prize in 3rd place.

Thanks to everyone who joined. I'll be sending out an email to everyone with a bit of a wrap up shortly.

Sunday, February 24th - GOOD LUCK!

OK folks. Everyone's picks are in and can be viewed in the Live Update Spreadsheet. Feel free to follow along during the live broadcast to see how everyone is doing. I will do my best to keep up in real time. We've got just over 1.5 hours until the show starts.

We have a pretty decent turnout this year with 19 entries! That means the cash prizes break down as follows:

First Place: $57

Second Place: $28.50

Third Place: $9.50

Good luck, everyone!

Monday, February 18th - IT'S ALIVE

While the Academy Awards Pool always lives on, this lovely website has been defunct for 3 years... but we're back, baby! I've fixed the banner, but decided to leave the headless statuette because I think it's hilarious.

We're in our 22nd year now and still going strong. Now that I (Amanda) have gained control of this site, I can guarantee that some kind of updates will take place. I won't guarantee that the updates will be good or nearly as eloquent or clever as when Dom was writing them, but at least you can rest assured that all pertinent info on the pool can be found on this front page. Even better, friend and long-time participant in the pool, Myka Martinez, has some great things in store for this site in the coming years (complete redesign!)... but we just couldn't pull it off in time for this year.

For those who have not previously entered the pool, the way it works is simple. You click on the link below, guess a winner for every category (they're weighted by what we perceive to be public interest), submit $5 and then take home a share of the pot if your crack the top three entries. You can even follow live scoring updates online during the ceremony! I'll post here and email out the link to the live-update spreadsheet before the ceremony begins next Sunday.

More details can be found in the entry form itself, and you can email me at webmonkey@contradictorymonkey.com with any questions you might have. The most important thing to know at the moment is this: The deadline for entries is Noon PST on this coming Sunday, February 24th, the day of the awards. Good luck!
